This charming room with queen bed, private bath, TV, spacious closet and cozy reading chair embraces the natural aspects of old Honey Creek through its decor, and hints to the early native cultures who likely wandered its banks.
In 1815 when this room was added onto the main house, one could gaze out the south facing window and see Honey Creek winding across the property near the old stables. This quaint stream flowed across much of the western end of Chillicothe, and in 1919 Honey Creek was converted into a subterranean waterway that still flows beneath many streets, homes and businesses throughout the historic district. A copy of an early 1800s map showing the path of Honey Creek adorns the wall in this room.

We are located in the heart of downtown Chillicothe; 50 minutes south of Columbus on S.R.23, and 1 hour 30 minutes from Cincinnati.
From Columbus, Ohio:
- Head south on St. Rt. 23.
- Take the exit toward Bridge St/Chillicothe onto US-23-BL (State Route 159).
- Turn right onto E Main St (US-50).
- Turn left onto S Walnut St.
- Turn left onto W 5th St.
- The Willis-James is on your right. Park on the street in front of the house
From Cincinnati, OH:
- Take I-71 N toward Columbus.
- Take exit 65 toward OH-435/Washington C H/US-35.
- Turn right onto Old US-35 NW (OH-435).
- Take ramp onto US-35 E toward Washington Court House. Continue on US-35 to Chillicothe.
- Take the exit for Bridge St - turn right at the light
- Turn right onto E Main St (US-50).
- Turn left onto S Walnut St.
- Turn left onto W 5th St.
- The Willis-James is on your right. Park on the street in front of the house

A beautiful space
We loved the stay at the Willis James. We came for one night for our tenth anniversary and were so impressed by the two sides of the experience. On the one hand the history of the building and the city, in which the owner is well versed, and on the other hand the perfectly modern upgrades that have been made in the building. It is just as easy to be charmed by the stories of the original owners from the early 1800’s in talking with Drew as it is to log in to YouTube TV on the TV in the rooms to catch a game. A beautiful space, a delicious breakfast cooked with local orchard fruit, and a very tasteful room made for a perfect stay. Chillicothe itself had a much bigger town than we thought and we had no trouble spending an entire day on foot going from store to store. Hope to go back and visit again! The bed is so comfy!
Our stay at the Willis-James was so wonderful. Steph and Drew have restored an absolute gem! Every detail from the moment you enter the spectacular foyer has been chosen with care and comfort in mind. I especially loved the scent of the candles and bath products, and the bed was so comfy! Can't wait to return to enjoy more time in the relaxing spaces of The Willis-James and shop downtown Chillicothe! Thank you for a fabulous stay.
